Review: Modern apartment hotel with a great location in Agia Marina

Crete is one of our favorite holiday destinations and we've been there many times. However we haven't booked and stayed in a hotel before. In search for a place to stay for our summer holiday, location was number one criteria. Since we've been to Agia Marina before, we knew exactly what a good location was and what not.

Aestas Apartments has an excellent location. It is not on the busy beachroad but two blocks up the hill, still only 5min walk from the beach of Agia Marina. Both of our studios also had a nice sea view being situated on the top floor which at Aestas is the 4th floor. What is also good about this location is that 3 min walk away you have restaurants and supermarket but it is still quiet at night. Or at least after 10pm when the nearby church bell has finished operating :-)

Pictures on Booking.com and on the property's own website were accurate. Actually I haven't seen that accurate pictures for a while. We booked directly with the hotel. Aestas Apartments was very clean, modern and bright. They have three different room categories; apartments, big studios and small studios. We booked big studios and they were just fine for 2 adults and one child. All rooms have a small kitchen, decent size bathroom, air-conditioning and a balcony (or two). Rooms have largely white interiors with laminate flooring. Furniture is kept at very minimum and our room had a queensize bed, side tables, wardrobe, make-up table and an armchair. In the balcony we had a table and 2 chairs. That meant we ate breakfast on the balcony every morning enjoying the sea view.

There is a small pool in the courtyard and a pool bar. The pool bar serves breakfast (for and additional fee) and drinks. The courtyard is nice also for children to play and the pool has a small children's section. We laid by the pool sipping cocktails in the sun loungers while kids took their naps in the afternoon, and the courtyard pool was just perfect for that!

Our experience of Aestas Apartments was very good. It provided us everything we needed at a reasonable price and staff was pretty friendly too.
